My experience in Portugal

My journey began in the heart of Lisbon, where the city’s steep streets and iconic trams lead to panoramic views of the red-tiled rooftops stretching to the Tagus River. The vibrant colours of the buildings and the timeless charm of the city’s old neighbourhoods made for some truly captivating shots.
From Lisbon, I headed south to the Algarve, known for its dramatic cliffs and golden beaches. The contrast between the rugged coastline and the deep blue waters of the Atlantic created some of the most stunning landscapes I’ve ever photographed.

For a stay in Lisbon with stunning views, check out Memmo Alfama Hotel, and for exploring the Algarve’s coastline, book a tour with Algarve Boat Tours.

Porto, with its narrow streets and vibrant riverside, offered a blend of history and charm. The iconic azulejos that adorn the city’s buildings tell stories of Portugal’s past, and I spent hours capturing their intricate designs in the soft morning light.
From Porto, I ventured to Sintra, home to the fairytale-like Pena Palace. Perched high on a hill, the palace’s bright colours and ornate architecture felt like something out of a storybook. The view from the top, looking out over the surrounding forests and hills, was one of the most breathtaking scenes of my trip.
And, of course, no journey through Portugal would be complete without indulging in the country’s cuisine. From fresh seafood along the coast to the hearty dishes of the countryside, every meal was an experience. Capturing the vibrant colours and textures of traditional Portuguese meals, accompanied by a glass of Douro wine, was a joy.

As I ventured further afield, I discovered the rugged beauty of Madeira. The island’s dramatic coastline, with its steep cliffs plunging into the ocean, made for some of the most dramatic photos of my trip. The contrast between the green hills and the deep blue of the Atlantic was breathtaking.
Back in Lisbon, one of my favourite moments was watching the sunset over the Tagus River. The way the light played across the city’s rooftops and reflected off the water created a golden glow that was perfect for capturing the timeless beauty of the city.
I also had the chance to explore the historic town of Évora. Its ancient streets, Roman ruins, and whitewashed buildings transported me back in time, and I spent hours photographing the details that make this UNESCO World Heritage site so special.
